” I think I can, wooh wooh, …”

Matthew 17: 19-20: I don’t get it, I keep hearing that Nothing is impossible with God.  I also understand that all I need is faith the size of a mustard seed.  Then why aren’t the mountains move for me?  Why does Jesus make it sound instantaneous?  In Luke it is described that if you tell a mulberry tree to throw itself into the ocean  it will, as long as you believe that it will. (faith the size of a mustard tree) God will lift the mulberry tree and toss it into the ocean.  (Luke 17:6).  Throughout the Old and the New Testament, we are told to trust God, have faith.  Then why can’t I seem to find the funding to get this missionary work that I really feel called to do off of the ground. I really believe in it, I have prayed, but the funding doesn’t come.  My question is are you knocking on doors? (Matthew 7:7-8).  Sometimes everything just falls into place and other times it just seems as if I am calling people and seeking funding, I am putting my own money aside; I am doing all the right things.  I believe that God wants me to help other people in this manner.  I believe that God has given me this mission to serve Him by caring for others in this manner. Whatever your service calling is, we feel as if we believe enough, have enough faith, are certain that this is where God is sending us; we feel as if everything should just fall into place.  Sometimes it does just fall into place.  Sometimes we are not on the evil ones radar – remember Satan is a fallen angel and not omnipresent. Yes he has millions of minions that help him with his dirty work.  But if they learn about something that we are doing for God’s kingdom, they have to report back because they have limitations, before they can move to thwart us.  But when we are on Satan’s radar He is there pushing back on that mountain.  He is there trying to stop  the mulberry tree.  We have to trust God is moving the mountains, he is sending the mulberry tree into the sea.  It is just Satan is doing everything he can to hinder the movement. When things don’t go easily or as we planned, it is not that we do not have enough faith, it is not that we are not following God’s plan for us: it is because Satan is doing everything he can to stop us.  Remember there is another time where Jesus tells His disciples that this type takes prayer (Mark 9:29).  When Satan thwarts us we need to be like the little engine that could.  The little train kept saying ” I think I can, I think I can”, until it made it all the way up the mountain.  That is how it is with us and the Lord’s work, sometimes we just have to say “I think I can”, even if when we start it is a barely audible whisper.  And just like the little train, we can’t stop saying it until we are at the top.  Pushing through, moving the mountains that life throws at us, until we are at the pinnacle. As long as you are certain that you are on God’s path for your life; never give up, never quit just keep on moving even when it seems as if you are getting nowhere.  Because one day you will look up and you will be at the top, the mountain moved, the mulberry bush is in the sea. Isaiah 40:31 – and they will fly high like the eagles.

Matthew 17: 19-20:

19 Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”

20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
