Are you Blue? How to be Strong

.Joshua 1:8-9: Keep this Book of the Law Always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

There are days when being strong and courageous means you were able to get out of bed.  I know how hard it can be.  But God has more for us than “Just Getting out of Bed.  When he told Joshua to be strong and courageous, he told him 3 times.  Moses had just died and Joshua was to lead the Lord’s armies into battle to claim the Promise Land.  How scary!!!

God has given all of us a Promise of Salvation and so much more. The thing is we have to do the work. WE can’t sit around waiting for it to drop into our laps.  Just as God told Joshua, he is telling us BE STRONG, BE COURAGEOUS.  Trust that he has a plan and move forward.  I know it is scary. Believe me I know.

Unfortunately there is not a magic formula that can move us forward.  Well there is but it doesn’t seem like “magic” until it is all over and you are looking back.  The magic is God’s hand moving obstacles. That is what God does when we step forward in faith, he shows us the path. Just like he did for Joshua.  Even Harry Potter didn’t wave his wand and Voldemort was dead, well he did in the end, but there was a bunch of work before he was able to kill the jerk.  It took what six or seven years?

Joshua took some time to defeat all the people against the Israelites and claim the promise land. There was work to be done, battles to be fought and won. Remember the wall of Jericho?  7 days marching, then there was still clean up afterwards.  Yes, God tumbled the walls, but if the Israelites had not done their part, that wall would still be standing today.

So get up out of bed and DO DO DO!!! Be Strong and Be Courageous, Trust God, if you do the work,  the walls of Jericho will tumble.
