Sheep among the wolves or wolf in sheep’s clothing?

Today, we do not have to go out of our homes to be confronted with Wolves in sheeps clothing. They are on our TV, they call on our phones, they send us emails, texts, and letters. They are everywhere. At the store, at work, and yes even at church. People pretending to be nice. Pretending to be something they are not. This is what Jesus told his disciples before sending them out to share the good news:

Matthew 10:16-20: 16 “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. 17 Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils and be flogged in the synagogues. 18 On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. 19 But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, 20 for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

Jesus  tells his disciples to be shrewd as snakes but innocent as doves. What does this mean for us? It means that we are to be careful what we say, what we do, there is always someone watching. There is hope, the Holy Spirit is there to guide us. We just have to learn how to recognized the voice of God?  How do you do that? YOU read His word.

As for recognizing the wolves in the sheep clothing, I still have trouble. Luckily God gave me a husband that is good at it. How do you avoid pitfalls of your own folly? PRAY
